Race day started off with a shock...when installing the race shocks after taking the car off the trailer, a broken lower shock mount was discovered. The whole left front suspension was disassembled, and Tyler welded a new mount. Only missing one practice, Tyler hit the track and the car reacted well to the changes made during the week. Qualifying left Tyler outside the front row for the start of the race. He was unable to get to the bottom groove without a number of cars passing. An early race incident during a pass caused Tyler to spin and ultimately sealed a 7th place finish. Here are some pictures from the race and be SURE to check out the media page for IN CAR CAMERA VIDEO!

Here are the photos from the last Race. Looks like the weather might hold off for tomorrows race hope to see you there! Look forward to IN CAR VIDEO from tomorrows race!!!!

6.08.2009

Saturday began with some hit and miss rain showers making for some interesting track conditions. Everyone was struggling with the track but it started to come towards the end of the night. Qualifying placed Tyler 8th, and with an 8 car invert, put him on the Pole! The race started off well but as the laps ticked away, the car was just not strong enough to hold of the hard charging top qualifiers. The race was relatively clean with only a few short cautions. This was the third race in which Tyler got a flat tire towards the end of the race.

As Tyler wraps up finals week he will be focusing his efforts on a few different ideas to make the car work better getting in to the corner and through the middle. Stay tuned and make sure to check out the media page for the great videos recapping the races!!! Pictures from the last race will be posted shortly!

In race number three of the Limited Late Model Racing Series at South Sound Speedway Tyler Secures his first top five and best career finish. After the sun went down and the track cooled off, the car really came alive. Starting on the inside of the fifth row, it did not take long for trouble as the caution was out before turn two of the first lap. After a few laps of green flag running, a pile up in front of Tyler resulted in a hard hit, bent bumper bar, and a scuffed up paint job, luckily the car performance was not affected. Several laps after this, Tyler spun a complete 360 and continued on losing only one position. A later caution brought the field back together. The race went on with a couple of close calls, a few adventures through the grass, and the occasional bumping ultimately resulting in the 5th place finish, on a leaking left rear tire. It was a very exciting night and the team continues to improve. There will be lots of work to do to get the car back together but we will have no problem making it to the next race.

Pending a clean race June 20th, the Allen Racing 35 team will make their way out to Evergreen Speedway for Tyler's first race on the Big 5/8ths mile oval. The team was thinking about going May 30th, however with finals quickly approaching and the work to be done on the car they will be unable to make it. Here are some pictures from the race!

Two races down in the Limited Late Model Race Season. It was an exciting....and LONG race Saturday night with 7 cautions in the first 21 laps, the race taking over an hour to complete. Another solid qualifying effort put tyler outside the 5th row. After getting spun on lap 4 and drawing the caution, Tyler had to start from the back of the pack. By lap 21 Tyler had avoided the 7 wrecks and was in 5th position right on the tail of the top 4 cars. Unfortunately once the race had restarted on lap 22, Tyler came over the radio complaining of the right front tire going down. In an effort to gain positions if others were unable to complete the race, Tyler stayed out and nursed the 35 car the remaining laps, resulting in an 8th place finish. Overall the team showed that they can compete in the top 5 and is looking to continue to improve each race. Here are some pictures of the car. I have also updated the FSAE page click here to see the Team 20 Formula SAE car!

4.6.2008

The Limited Late Models at South Sound started the season off with an exciting first race! During practice Tyler recorded some of his fastest times ever, and qualified with a 14.15 (personal best). The field was very close with a number of cars within the 14.0-14.2 lap times. Starting 10th, Tyler was able to avoid a number of wrecks putting him in 6th. A spin put Tyler a lap down just behind the leaders where he raced for several laps. During a later caution, "I'm losing my brakes" was the only comment over the radio, but he was able to hold on and complete the remaining 15 laps to finish in 8th place.

Overall it was a very successful day at the track, and the team will continue to work hard at finding speed wherever possible. Stay tuned, pictures will be here and on the media page shortly.

3.26.2008 The car is back together running after a successful practice at South Sound on Saturday. The Allen Racing team did a full shake down of the 2009 car looking for leaks and loose bolts. These early runs have proven all the changes made during the off season were very beneficial as the car is more balanced than it was all of last season. The 2009 SCHEDULE has been posted as the season quickly approaches. We look forward to seeing everyone at the first race!
12.12.2008 The completion of fall quarter means that it is time to get the car ready to go. During winter break we begin the assembly stage. Putting back together new parts, getting the engine back in, suspension completed etc. We will continue to add photos from our progress. Thanks for visiting!

11.18.2008

At the South Sound Speedway banquet Saturday, Tyler's car and crew were voted "Best Appearing" by fellow racers!

The car is coming along in terms of winter maintenance. The motor has been refreshed, and a number of small maintenance tasks have been completed. We are currently working on finalizing front end geometry and will be reassembling the car during winter break.

9.21.2008

Tyler secures 9th in points his rookie year in South Sound Speedway's Limited Late Model Racing Series! It was a very tight race for 9th, 10th, and 11th place in points and it was riding on Tyler's performance in the last race. Tyler started on the inside of the 5th row, and the field got off to a clean start. After an early caution, on the restart the field checked up and as a result Tyler was hit from behind and spun into the infield. Luckily the field restarted in the same order. Later in the race, the 49 car blew a motor while Tyler was following very closely. As the 49 slowed with a blown motor, Tyler was forced to check up and the 25 car hit the back of Tyler's car and lifted the rear end a few feet off the ground, a pretty bad hit. Luckily there was only minor damage to Tyler's car and he was able to work his way back to 9th place to finish the race. That totals 6 top tens on the season!

We would like to thank everyone for all their support. Fellow racers and crews, track officials, our sponsors Patterson Roofing, EmbroidMe Bellevue, and Signs By Tomorrow, and all our families and friends. Allen Racing owes its success to everyone who helped support us.

I will continue to add updates over the winter regarding progress on the maintenance of the car, and will also have hats up for sale on the web site shortly. Thanks again to everyone and we look forward to seeing you next year at South Sound Speedway!

9.7.2008 It was an action packed night at South Sound Speedway with the second to last race of the Limited Late Model Racing Series. We would like to start by thanking everyone who helped us in the pits, we could not have done it without you. Tyler was fighting handling issues very early in practice. An alignment issue was discovered just before qualifying, minutes before rolling to tech, the issue was resolved. The change was definitely reflected in both qualifying and hot laps. Starting on the inside of row five Tyler was able to work his way up to his highest finish so far, 6th place! Tyler and the crew will continue to dial in the setup at the next two Thursday practices prior to our last race on September 20th!

9.5.2008

Thursday proved to be a very nice day for practice as Tyler logged a number of laps working on the setup of the 35 car. Having made a number of changes since Saturdays race, it took some time to dial the car in. Lap times began to come down as the evening progressed but more adjustments will be needed during practice before Saturday. Looks like it will be partly cloudy with a high of 75 tomorrow, a great day for racing. Hope to see you there!

9.1.2008 It was an exciting night of racing at South Sound Speedway. A number of changes were made to the car before the weekend, and due to a rained out practice, the team had a lot of testing to do on race day. During hot laps, the car was starting to get dialed in, when Tyler spun in turns 3 and 4 and made contact with the 44 car. Luckily the damage was purely cosmetic and did not affect the cars handling. Tyler started the main event on the inside of the third row and was able to secure a 12th place finish. We will be working full time to get the car ready for next Saturdays race! Hope to see everyone out again this weekend!

8.18.2008

Top ten number 4 came saturday as Tyler placed 9th in the main event. It was a very hot day and the track started off very slick. The crew worked hard to get the car to handle throughout the day as the track conditions changed. Starting the main event outside of row 7 Tyler was able to work his way up to 9th to end the night with another top ten. We would like to thank everyone that came out to watch Tyler, we really appreciate all the support. It looks like we will be attempting another practice or two before the next race to keep working on the setup. Stay tuned for more updates!

8.15.2008 Tyler had a successful practice yesterday completing nearly 60 laps in the 91+ degree weather. The car was great and is ready to go for the race tomorrow. Hope to see a bunch of Allen Racing fans at the race and bring those sunglasses and sunscreen, it's going to be a hot one under the lights!

8.2.2008 Saturday brought the third top ten of the season for Tyler! During practice the car was very good and Tyler was running some of his personal fastest times. After qualifying 10th, the race went all 50 laps with only 3 cautions. Coming to the finish line Tyler ducked below the 24 car and just missed an 8th place finish. It was a very exciting race and we would like to thank everyone that came out to support Tyler at the race! Looks like we will be practicing again this Thursday to continue to work on the setup. Next race is in two weeks hope to see you there!

It was a beautiful afternoon for practice on Thursday as Tyler was able to log nearly 150 laps of practice. A number of big changes were made throughout the practice session and the car started working well. We will log some more practice laps during next thursdays session to get time on the new setup for the next race. Until then the car will go through its normal maintenance and cleaning to prepare it for practice and the race next Saturday.

7.20.2008
Recap: The track was fairly slick in the early practice sessions but as the afternoon progressed, the track improved and so did lap times. The car was a little free but a few minor adjustments got the setup to where Tyler wanted it. In qualifying the car had tightened up quite a bit and Tyler Qualified 12th with a time of 14.6 seconds. During hot laps the crew was able to loosen the car up enough for the main event. Starting on the outside of the sixth row the field took the green flag clean. On lap 8 while checking up to avoid a wreck, Tyler was hit from behind and spun to the infield. Luckily he was able to keep the car running and got his position back. Besides the temperamental power steering, the rest of the race was fairly clean and Tyler was able to finish in 8th place..

7.19.2008

The grand stands were packed for an action packed night of racing at South Sound Speedway as Tyler brought home is second top ten of the season. Detailed results and recap of the night to come tomorrow!

7.17.2008
Car preparation for the upcoming race Saturday, July 19th is nearing completion. The past few races the steering rack developed a pretty serious leak and was sent to the factory. The steering rack came back today and was successfully installed. A majority of tomorrow will be spent completing the car setup, packing the truck and trailer, and loading the race car. The weather looks great for Saturday, partly sunny and 77 degrees. Come watch the Limited Late Models run South Sound Speedway under the lights!
