Well, it's been a while since the last update...
Tyler was able to finish off the last Race and ended up 4th in the Championship Points standings falling only 14 points short of a 3rd place championship finish. At the banquet Tyler was voted Sportsman of the Year by fellow drivers, and Most Improved by Track staff and officials.
Tyler has two quarters left as a senior in the mechanical engineering department at the University of Washington and it is proving to be quite demanding. Despite the demanding schedule and with some serious help from the crew chief, the winter maintenance is nearly complete.
A crack in the rear end housing required the replacement of one half of the bell and a new axle tube which should help fix alignment issues encountered last year. The team also decided to install a Nascar Style Splined sway bar in order to up the sway bar rate and have a more consistent setup. The team is hopeful that these changes will make the 35 car competitive for the championship next year.
We would like to thank everyone that made this racing season possible, the crew, the family, and everyone at the speedway, if it were not for these people we would not be able to race.
Stay tuned for the 2010 schedule which should be coming out in the next few weeks. |

Another weekend down and Tyler remains 4th in points. Unfortunately we were unable to finish the race with 10 to go due to moderate damage caused by contact on a restart. Check out the in car video from the crash here! Go to the media page and click the 8-22-09 race link to view all the videos from the race.

Tyler takes second in the first of the two dual main events! Early practice was plagued with an ill handling car and some motor problems, but the crew rallied and fixed things moments before the deadline to head to tech for the race. Tyler started on the pole and was able to lead 27 of the 30 laps. With 3 laps to go, the car pushed up in turns 1 and 2 and the 95 car was able to get by. Tyler was able to hold off Ron Wolf to secure his career best second place finish.
A few adjustments were made between the first and second race to try to get the car better at the end of the race but that and the changing track conditions made for a very loose car. Tyler was able to finish 5th in the second main event making for a very good points night. Check out the video page for more videos! It's time to see if we can go get that big win before the season is out!

The 35 car was back in action at Southsound Speedway last saturday. After a rough start to the day dealing with some setup issues, the crew was able to get the car working really well. The car came alive during qualifying as Tyler posted his career best qualifying time of 14.07 putting him 7th in a field of 14 cars. Starting on the outside of the pole, Tyler slipped back to 5th as the train chugged along underneath. The car was very good throughout the race and it was evident as his times were rivaling the leaders. Ultimately he ended up 7th. Check out the media page for TONS of video from the last race. The in car shots are amazing! I'll post some pictures shortly. Thanks everyone and we hope to see you at the next race! |

Tyler's first time on the 5/8ths at Monroe was a success. A long day of practice on friday allowed Tyler to become somewhat familiar with the track. We did not quite get the right gear in the car and the setup was not all the way there but it was enough for Tyler to get some serious track time on race night. The night went pretty much incident free and Tyler is looking forward to going back. Looks like if everything works out he will attend the September 12th race on the big track. We would like to thank everyone at evergreen speedway that helped in getting us out to the track on friday and saturday we really appreciate the opportunity to race there. Check out some videos on the Media page! |

Race day started off with a shock...when installing the race shocks after taking the car off the trailer, a broken lower shock mount was discovered. The whole left front suspension was disassembled, and Tyler welded a new mount. Only missing one practice, Tyler hit the track and the car reacted well to the changes made during the week. Qualifying left Tyler outside the front row for the start of the race. He was unable to get to the bottom groove without a number of cars passing. An early race incident during a pass caused Tyler to spin and ultimately sealed a 7th place finish. Here are some pictures from the race and be SURE to check out the media page for IN CAR CAMERA VIDEO!

Saturday began with some hit and miss rain showers making for some interesting track conditions. Everyone was struggling with the track but it started to come towards the end of the night. Qualifying placed Tyler 8th, and with an 8 car invert, put him on the Pole! The race started off well but as the laps ticked away, the car was just not strong enough to hold of the hard charging top qualifiers. The race was relatively clean with only a few short cautions. This was the third race in which Tyler got a flat tire towards the end of the race.
As Tyler wraps up finals week he will be focusing his efforts on a few different ideas to make the car work better getting in to the corner and through the middle. Stay tuned and make sure to check out the media page for the great videos recapping the races!!! Pictures from the last race will be posted shortly! |

In race number three of the Limited Late Model Racing Series at South Sound Speedway Tyler Secures his first top five and best career finish. After the sun went down and the track cooled off, the car really came alive. Starting on the inside of the fifth row, it did not take long for trouble as the caution was out before turn two of the first lap. After a few laps of green flag running, a pile up in front of Tyler resulted in a hard hit, bent bumper bar, and a scuffed up paint job, luckily the car performance was not affected. Several laps after this, Tyler spun a complete 360 and continued on losing only one position. A later caution brought the field back together. The race went on with a couple of close calls, a few adventures through the grass, and the occasional bumping ultimately resulting in the 5th place finish, on a leaking left rear tire. It was a very exciting night and the team continues to improve. There will be lots of work to do to get the car back together but we will have no problem making it to the next race.
Pending a clean race June 20th, the Allen Racing 35 team will make their way out to Evergreen Speedway for Tyler's first race on the Big 5/8ths mile oval. The team was thinking about going May 30th, however with finals quickly approaching and the work to be done on the car they will be unable to make it. Here are some pictures from the race!

Two races down in the Limited Late Model Race Season. It was an exciting....and LONG race Saturday night with 7 cautions in the first 21 laps, the race taking over an hour to complete. Another solid qualifying effort put tyler outside the 5th row. After getting spun on lap 4 and drawing the caution, Tyler had to start from the back of the pack. By lap 21 Tyler had avoided the 7 wrecks and was in 5th position right on the tail of the top 4 cars. Unfortunately once the race had restarted on lap 22, Tyler came over the radio complaining of the right front tire going down. In an effort to gain positions if others were unable to complete the race, Tyler stayed out and nursed the 35 car the remaining laps, resulting in an 8th place finish. Overall the team showed that they can compete in the top 5 and is looking to continue to improve each race. Here are some pictures of the car. I have also updated the FSAE page click here to see the Team 20 Formula SAE car!

The Limited Late Models at South Sound started the season off with an exciting first race! During practice Tyler recorded some of his fastest times ever, and qualified with a 14.15 (personal best). The field was very close with a number of cars within the 14.0-14.2 lap times. Starting 10th, Tyler was able to avoid a number of wrecks putting him in 6th. A spin put Tyler a lap down just behind the leaders where he raced for several laps. During a later caution, "I'm losing my brakes" was the only comment over the radio, but he was able to hold on and complete the remaining 15 laps to finish in 8th place.
Overall it was a very successful day at the track, and the team will continue to work hard at finding speed wherever possible. Stay tuned, pictures will be here and on the media page shortly. |

The car is back together running after a successful practice at South Sound on Saturday. The Allen Racing team did a full shake down of the 2009 car looking for leaks and loose bolts. These early runs have proven all the changes made during the off season were very beneficial as the car is more balanced than it was all of last season. The 2009 SCHEDULE has been posted as the season quickly approaches. We look forward to seeing everyone at the first race! |

The completion of fall quarter means that it is time to get the car ready to go. During winter break we begin the assembly stage. Putting back together new parts, getting the engine back in, suspension completed etc. We will continue to add photos from our progress. Thanks for visiting! |
